Judges considered grades, leadership, activities and, most importantly, how students extend their intellectual talents beyond the classroom. Members of the All-USA College Academic Team and their schools are published in USA Today, as well as on the usatoday.com Web site.

Schroering, an environmental studies major and political science minor, is a member of the first-year honorary, Phi Society, Mortar Board and the Denison chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the national political science honorary. She is a consistent Dean’s List student, a Heritage Scholar, and was a Denison Young Scholar for a summer research project, “International Law, Spirituality and Indigenous Peoples’ Rights.” She is also doing a senior honors research project entitled “Indigenous Rights, Environmental Rights and Human Rights in the Global Economy: Three Case Studies in Brazil and the United States.” She is an America Reads tutor and active member of the Student Global AIDS Campaign and Denison Progressive Alliance. Schroering studied off campus with the School for International Training at the Amazon Resource Management and Human Ecology in Brazil.

After graduation, Schroering plans to work as a community organizer for social justice and environmental issues before attending law school.
