"A Little Night Music" at Denison

Date of Event: May 1, 2010

Posted: April 26, 2010

The Singers’ Theatre Workshop at Denison University will present Steven Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music” at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2, in Burke Recital Hall (240 West Broadway). The show is free and open to the public.

Kevin N. Wines, visiting instructor, is the director of the production, based on Ingmar Bergman’s film, “Smiles of a Summer Night.” Currently enjoying a revival on Broadway, “A Little Night Music” is a musical set in a weekend country house in turn-of-the-century Sweden, where surprising liaisons, long-simmering passions and a taste of love’s endless possibilities are all brought to light.

The Singers’ Theatre Workshop provides Denison students with an opportunity to perform in a variety of different shows, from Broadway musicals to light opera. This auditioned group of students presents a full production with scenery and costumes once each semester.
