Denison Singer's Theatre Workshop To Perform the Operetta 'Patience'
Date of Event: December 4, 2004
Posted: November 18, 2004
The Denison University Singer's Theatre Workshop will perform the operetta "Patience" by William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan. Two shows are scheduled: the first at 3 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 4) and the second at 3 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 5). Both performances will be in the Burke Recital Hall. The operetta is directed by Belinda Andrews-Smith, choreographed by Bart Smith, accompanied by Sarah Ramsey and conducted by Kevin Wines.
"Patience" is a tale of two rival poets: Bunthorne and Grosvenor. Bunthorne has entranced all the women of the village with his aestheticism, much to the annoyance of their fiancees, the 35th Dragoon Guards. The satirical story follows the squabbling that ensues with everything turning out well in the end.
The show features Denison students Marten Carlson '06 (Franklin, Ill.), Matt Coon '08 (Bryan, Ohio), Kristin Cox '07 (Traverse City, Mich.), Brian Giovanni '05 (St. Louis, Mo.), Jesse Koza '07 (Lancaster, Ohio), Greta Kuhlman '08 (Van Nuys, Calif.), Elaine Martin '05 (Thiensville, Wis.), Emily Meagher '06 (Evansville, Ind.), Mary Sheridan'06 (Troy, Ohio) and Christopher Carr '07 (Weymouth, Md.).
