Spanish production to premiere at Denison

Denison University Department of Theatre and the Department of Modern Languages will present the play “El desden con el desden” at 3 and 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, and at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 19, in the Ace Morgan Theater (211 W. College Street). The performances will be in Spanish and are free and open to the public.
The production is a modern musical adaptation of the 17th century comedy by Agustin Moreto. Francisco Garcia Vicente, professor of directing at the Escuela Superior de Arte Dramatico (ESAD) of Murcia, Spain, adapted the play, which he will direct at Denison.
The theatrical work will be performed by two actors from ESAD, Ricardo Arqueros and Jorge Sese, and by Denison students Harlene Bryenton (Granville, Ohio), Lucia Guerra (Garza Garcia, Mexico), Angelica Gutierrez (Grove City, Ohio), Hannah Hanssens-Reed (Philadelphia), William McGregor (Santa Monica, Calif.), Claire Navarro (Seal Beach, Calif.), Cali Orr (Delaware, Ohio), Kristine Perry (Columbus, Ohio), and Caroline Pronai (London, Ohio).
The English translation of the play titled “Spite for Spite” will also be performed at Denison University in April.
