GRANVILLE— Denison’s Women’s Studies department continues this year’s Laura C. Harris “Feminism and War, Feminism and Peace” lecture series with a talk on gender politics. Spike Peterson, professor of political science at the University of Arizona, will present her lecture entitled “Gendered Economies of War” at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Burton Morgan lecture hall (150 Ridge Road). The event is free and open to the public.

Peterson, author of the 2003 book “A Critical Rewriting of Global Political Economy: Reproductive, Productive and Virtual Economies,” focuses her research on alternative analysis for examining intersections of race, ethnicity, class, gender and national hierarchies in the context of today’s globalizing dynamics.

She has published more than 50 articles in journals, such as the International Feminist Journal of Politics, New Political Science and Politics & Gender, on the topics of feminist international relations theory, global political economy, nationalism, democratization, heterosexism, human rights and critical postmodernist and feminist theory.

Peterson’s talk is sponsored by the women’s studies department and the Laura C. Harris fund, whose theme this semester is focused on feminism in times of peace. There are two remaining lectures in the series this year: Cynthia Enloe, director of Clark University’s women’s studies program, on Feb. 27 and Mervat Hatem, professor of political science at Howard University, on April 4.
