Denison University Suzuki Program Talent Education Meeting
Date of Event: August 16, 2009
Posted: July 24, 2009
The Denison University Suzuki Music Program will hold an information session at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, in the rehearsal room of the Burke Recital Hall (240 West Broadway). Denison offers Suzuki instruction in piano, violin, viola, cello and flute for students ages three to adult. The information session is free and open to the public.
The Suzuki Method is a way of teaching music to children developed by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who believed in fostering the potential in every young person. Just as all children develop the ability to speak, Suzuki believed that any child who is properly trained can develop musical ability and other life-long skills with the help of a skilled and caring teacher and his or her parent.
The program currently has openings for piano, violin, viola, cello and flute for the fall semester, which begins on or around the last week in August. Contact Jim Van Reeth, program director, at 740-975-4644, or vanreeeth@denison.edu for additional information.
