Denison University Symphony Orchestra Performs

The Denison University Symphony Orchestra will perform at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, in Swasey Chapel (200 Chapel Drive). This concert is free and open to the public and will be conducted by Olev Viro.
Viro is creator and leader of the Sonus Artis project, giving musical programs and outreach in both Ohio and Estonia, with previous support from the Ohio Arts Council. he has been a full-time violinist with the Columbus Symphony since 1984 and has been guest conductor and soloist with the Greater Columbus Community Orchestra numerous times. He became the music director of GCCO in 2000, when it was called the Upper Arlington Community Orchestra. In 1996, the orchestra commissioned Francis Sibley to compose “Suite for Jazz Violin and Orchestra,” which he premiered. He is active as a violinist, teacher and coach and has been on the faculty of Capital, Otterbein and Denison universities.
