GRANVILLE, Ohio—Denison University’s news and information website, TheDEN, took home the top prize in the 2011 Bulldog Digital/Social PR Awards, sponsored by the Bulldog Reporter. TheDEN was awarded the Grand Prize nationally for Best Use of Digital/Social for a Digital/Social Communications Campaign of the Year. TheDEN also earned Gold awards for Best Online Newsroom of the Year and Best Use of Digital/Social for Higher Education Marketing, as well as a Silver award for Best Microsite or Specialized Website. The Bulldog Reporter publishes the public relations/communication industry’s largest circulation publication and is the industry’s leading provider of professional development events and materials.

Winners were chosen by working journalists from hundreds of entries representing the best of the public relations/corporate communications field. Campaigns were assessed on the basis of their “ability to achieve extraordinary visibility and influence opinion, as well as on their creativity, command of media and technology, and tenacity.” TheDEN’s fellow awardees included notable entrants such as Wrangler, General Mills, Jet Blue and Pfizer.

“We are honored to be in such esteemed company and are thrilled to receive this recognition from an industry giant like the Bulldog Reporter,” said Scott Tribble, Denison University’s senior associate director for digital strategy. “We are so proud of TheDEN and couldn’t be more pleased with the response and recognition that it’s received. Denison has a great story to tell and TheDEN has helped bring that story to life on the web.”

TheDEN, which launched in August 2010, has received recognition inside and outside of higher education, including seven awards from the Association of Marketing and Communications (MarCom Awards), the Best University Website WebAward from the Web Marketing Association, an Honorable Mention in Online Communications at New York’s Platinum PR Awards, as well as three Pride of CASE V Awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (District V) and a Circle of Excellence Award from CASE’s international competition. Earlier in 2011, TheDEN also received an ADDY® Award (American Advertising Federation - Columbus Chapter) as well as an Ohio Interactive Award.
