Denison University names new squash coach

GRANVILLE, Ohio— Walt Thieman has been named as the new head squash coach at Denison University. Thieman holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Muskingum College, a master’s degree in education from Andrews University and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Toledo.

Lynn Schweizer, senior associate athletic director at Denison University said of Thieman, “Walt brings the passion and dedication needed to build upon the rich tradition of Denison squash. I am confident that he’ll raise the level of competitive excellence to reinforce our outstanding squash tradition.” Schweizer added, “Walt is a coach for the right reasons; he cares about his players as individuals, focusing on their development not only as athletes, but also as young men and women. We are pleased that he will be joining the Denison community.”
 
Thieman has participated in racquet sports from his time as a varsity tennis player in high school and college, and has continued his association with the sport, including his most recent post as a coach at Bexley High School in the greater Columbus area.
