A special "all-alumni" program of National Public Radio's "From the Top" that was recorded at Denison University in November is being broadcast across the nation on National Public Radio affiliates this week. In central Ohio, it will air on Sunday, Jan. 10, from 7 to 8 p.m. on WOSU-FM, 89.7. To find other listings nationwide, go to http://www.npr.org/templates/stations/schedule/index.php?prgId=43.
Streaming audio of Denison program also is currently available on-demand this week on the "From the Top" website at http://www.fromthetop.org/content/show-204-granville-ohio.
The award-winning radio series, which highlights young musicians, is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and the 30th anniversary of Denison's Vail Series, with return performances by some show's most memorable talents. Featured are violinist Anna Lee, baritone John Brancy, pianist Colton Peltier, cellist Coleman Itzkoff and Lauren Chapman on the viola.
The Nov. 7 Vail Series event was also something of a homecoming for "From the Top" as this was the show's fourth live taping from Denison's Swasey Chapel. In addition, the program's Emmy Award-winning co-founder and co-CEO, Jennifer Hurley-Wales, is a Granville native and a Denison graduate, class of 1983.
"From the Top" has taped more than 200 radio broadcasts in America's premier concert halls, reaching more than 200,000 live audience members in 33 states. The radio and television programs reach millions each week.
Endowed by a generous gift from the late Mary and Foster McGaw in honor of Jeanne Vail, class of 1946, the Denison University Vail Series brings to campus the world's premier performers, as well as new musical talents, enriching the artistic experience of the entire Denison community.
