Animation Artist Visits Denison

The department of art at Denison University is hosting Glenn Vilppu at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 21) in Cleveland Hall Annex, Room 104 (201 N. Mulberry Street). He will be giving a slide lecture. It is free and open to the public.

Vilppu has served as a drawing instructor for many companies and organizations, including Walt Disney Pictures Animation Feature, Dream Works, Warner Bros. Feature Animation, and Marvel Productions. Among the film projects he has worked on are: Warner Bros.' "Tazmania," Phil Mendez Productions' "Sinbad," and Walt Disney Productions' "The Fox and The Hound."

Vilppu earned his bachelor of fine arts and master of fine arts degrees from Art Center College of Design. He also has studied at the Otis Art Institute and Los Angeles Santa Monica City College. Vilppu has worked in the animation industry concurrently while teaching since 1978. Currently he is a visiting assistant professor at the UCLA school of film and video and is teaching classes at the American Animation Institute.
