Denison Hosts Conference On Water Resources

Posted: April 11, 2003

The Denison University Environmental Studies Program will host "Local Water, Global Water: A Conference on Resources, Conservation and Advocacy" on May 7-8 at Denison. This conference will bring together a diverse group of water experts and interested lay people to explore water resource issues that span the globe and impact our own communities.

Several internationally recognized water authorities, including Peter Gleick, co-founder and president of the Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment and Security, will present their perspectives of global and local water resource issues.

The two-day conference will include a range of activities to promote discussions about the sustainable management of water resources in central Ohio and beyond. Small group and panel sessions will be included each day and participants will have the opportunity to take field trips to explore local water resources. The conference will also feature a dinner and reception at The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology in downtown Newark.

The fee for the conference is $85 ($40 for students). Anyone with an interest in water is welcome to attend and registrations are due by April 18. Late registrations with an additional fee will be accepted until May 2. For more information and a printable registration form visit the conference website http://www.waterconference-du.org or contact conference coordinator Sarah Beazley at (740) 587-5684.
