Denison Hosts Workshop for Women Entrepreneurs

“Breaking Ceilings, Building Ladders,” a workshop for women entrepreneurs, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Denison University’s Burton D. Morgan Lecture Hall (150 Ridge Road). The workshop is free and open to the public, though reservations are requested. The workshop will feature panel sessions and speakers, including Cynthia Booth, president and owner of COBCO Enterprises/McDonalds (and a 1979 Denison graduate); Donna James, founder of the Center for Healthy Families; Victoria Nunes, community affairs and marketing specialist for Fifth Third Bank; Jordana Shakoor, president and founder of JVS Consultants-PosiPower Concepts Inc.; and Jeni Britton Bauer, founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream.

Session topics include “How You Can Help Your Community Through Entrepreneurship,” “Women in Corporate America,” and “Forging New Ground: Starting a Business.”

The workshop is organized by Tina Pierce, visiting professor and Consortium for Faculty Diversity Post-Doctorate Fellow in political science and black studies, and Stephanie Hunt-Theophilus, coordinator of the Burton D. Morgan Program in Liberal Arts and Entrepreneurship Education. It is sponsored by the Women’s Studies Program, the Women’s Resource Center and the Burton D. Morgan Program in Liberal Arts and Entrepreneurship Education at Denison University.
