Women of Color Share Experiences In Women's History Event at Denison

Five women who have pursued careers in science and medicine will gather at Denison to share their experiences with current students in an event celebrating Women's History Month. Sponsored by the office of multi-cultural student affairs, career services, and departments of biology, chemistry and bio-chemistry, the panel discussion, titled "Heart and Soul: Women of Color in the Fields of Science and Medicine," is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 27) in Herrick Hall. The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the discussion period.
Panelists who will share their life's journey into the fields of science and medicine are: Marcia Cotton Arney '74, a biomedical engineer at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland; Sacheen Garrison '97 a dentist in Reynoldsburg; Hodon Mohamed '06, a student at Ohio University's College of Osteopathic Medicine; Obehi Isimeme Ikharebha, the project coordinator of Access Health Columbus; and Tamira M. Moon, a program specialist for the Ohio Commission on Minority Health, Columbus. They will discuss how they have put their collegiate science and pre-med backgrounds to use in their personal and professional lives and will assist current students in exploring the many options, challenges and rewards that these fields offer.
