GRANVILLE, Ohio— Alison Wylie, professor of philosophy at the University of Washington, will present a lecture, “What Knowers Know Well: Standpoint Theory and the Formation of Gender Archaeology,” at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19, in room 210 of Denison University’s Samson Talbot Hall (350 Ridge Road). The lecture is sponsored by the Titus Hepp Lecture Series and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Kate Tull at 740-587-6387 or visit www.denison.edu.

“Gender research” in archaeology has been a vigorously growing field since the early 1990s. In taking up neglected questions about women and gender, researchers create new understandings of the cultural past that are more empirically robust, explanatorily incisive, and practically useful as a consequence of being gender-inclusive.
