U.S. Surgeon General Visits Denison
U.S. Surgeon General Rear Adm. Steven K. Galson visited Denison University on Feb. 27 as part of the Ohio College Initiative to Reduce High Risk Drinking. Dale Knobel, president of Denison and this year’s president of the Ohio College Initiative, hosted the gathering of more than 20 executive administrators from colleges around the state. Galson, who promotes a “Call to Action to Prevent and Reduce Underage Drinking,” was the keynote speaker at the event.
Denison has long taken a leadership role in addressing the issue of high-risk drinking. Proactive initiatives on campus include late-night substance-free programs and a required alcohol education course for first-year students.
