Satisfactory Grading Option (Class of 2008, 2009, 2010)

Students who matriculated after August 1, 2004 have the option of using the Satisfactory Grading Option. This opportunity is available only if the following conditions have been met:

  1. The student has satisfactorily completed at least 60 semester hours of academic credit.
  2. The student is not applying to use this option for any course in the major or minor field.
  3. The student is not applying to use the Satisfactory Grading Option for any required cognate experience.
  4. The student is not applying to use this option toward any general education requirement.
  5. A student is eligible to utilize the Satisfactory Grading Option and will receive a grade of "S" for the course if the final performance is judged to be a "C" or higher. Such a mark does not affect the grade point average but the earned credit hours will be applied toward graduation. Should the final mark be a grade of "C-" or lower, the Satisfactory Grading Option is forfeited and the grade and course value will be included on the student's record in the traditional fashion.
  6. The Satisfactory Grading Option contract must be filed with the Registrar's Office no later than 4:30 p.m. at the end of the fifth week of the semester. The agreement cannot be rescinded once it has been filed.
