Office of the Registrar
Transfer Credit Policy
Whenever a student wishes to apply credits earned at institutions elsewhere or from programs both domestic or foreign, he/she needs to discuss the situation with appropriate officials at Denison University. Final transfer approval lies with the Registrar; departmental chairpersons and instructors are also consulted frequently. Students are urged to obtain the registrar's approval before committing to coursework to be taken elsewhere.
Usually a student must earn at least a minimum grade of "C" in order to have course work accepted and applied toward a Denison degree. Grades earned on approved programs will not be applied toward Denison GPA calculations but will show on the official transcript.
If deemed appropriate by the Registrar, coursework completed elsewhere may be applied toward general education requirements. Course work ought always to be completed in disciplines comprising the standard Denison curriculum. Generally, business courses will not transfer. Inclusion of a course toward a major or minor is subject to approval of the appropriate department chairperson and the Registrar.
