Marc F. Kasten is a third year rabbinical student studying at HUC in Cincinnati this year. Originally from Long Island, New York, Marc spent his teenage years in the small town of Banner Elk, North Carolina, where his family became members of the Boone Jewish Community, an unaffiliated congregation serving several counties in western NC. Marc graduated from North Carolina State University in Raleigh with a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education concentrating in Computer Science and a minor in Computer Programming. At NC State, Marc was an active board member of the school’s Hillel and traveled to Israel on a Kesher Birthright trip.

After graduating, he taught mathematics while becoming involved in Jewish youth work in Raleigh as a religious school teacher, Youth Director at two Raleigh-area synagogues, and counselor at the Raleigh-Cary JCC’s day camp. Marc has been married for five years to Rachel Kasten, a Jewish professional at Wise Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio.
