Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols in Swasey Chapel.
Ecclesia
Weekly Bible Conversation, fellowship and prayer, over a home-cooked dinner, takes place on Wednesdays at 6pm in The Open House. Ecclesia, an ecumenical (all-denominational) Christian Chapel Program, is available to all members of the Denison community.
In striving to offer a service with appeal to all Christian traditions, a blend of traditional and contemporary components is utilized in Ecclesia worship.
Additional variations and special services include:
- Taize style services (once each month)
- Lessons and Carols Christmas Service
- Paschal Vigil on Easter Eve
Ecclesia’s student leadership group, the Chapel Council, assists our Chaplain, Reverend Mark R. Orten, with planning special services and related programs, such as retreats and special events (i.e., Christmas Caroling). Professor Kevin Wines of Denison’s Music Department serves as Music Director of the Program.
For more information, please contact Rev. Mark R. Orten (ortenm@denison.edu).
Granville Friends Meeting
Weekly meetings of the Granville Friends (Quaker) organization are held on Sundays at 10am in The Open House. The third Sunday of each month includes the special feature of a luncheon following the meeting. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome!
