Residential Life Contacts

There are roughly ninety staff members who work within the Office of Residential Education. These individuals are charged with assisting students to create strong communities that foster learning and thus complement that academic mission of the university. This staff is comprised of the following:

  • Resident Assistants: live on each residence hall floor and are available to answer questions, respond to crisis situations, plan activities with residents and uphold university policies. Their goal is to build a positive and cohesive floor community.

  • Head Residents: administer the residence hall; develop and participate in hall activities; and supervise the RA staff in that building. HRs work directly with the Assistant Directors on administrative, managerial and community development tasks.

  • Assistant Directors: are full-time professional administrators who live on campus and have responsibility for the coordinator of programs and services for the particular cluster of residence halls or area of campus. The Assistant Directors also serve as supervisors for residence hall staff and act as principle liaisons between the residential education office and the residence hall staff.

  • Administrative Assistants: provide administrative assistance to the Assistant Directors and manage daily operations of residential life area service centers.

  • Housing Coordinator: shares responsibility with the Director of Residential Education and Dean of Students in managing the housing program. This includes making room assignments, processing room changes, developing policies and managing the housing lottery system.

  • Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Residential Education: is responsible for the Residential Education program. This includes program and policy development, as well as the selection, training and development of professional and student residential life staff.

  • Assistant Dean of Students/Director, Office of Student Conduct and Campus Values: is responsible for the implementation of the student conduct process. This includes program and policy development as well as selection, training and development of conduct educators and boards.

  • Dean of Students: is responsible for overseeing residential education and community development at Denison. This person serves as an advocate for individuals and community.  The Dean assists students who take leaves of absenses from the college and conducts exit interviews with students who withdraw.  The Dean aims to be visible and accessible on campus to help connect students to opportunities and to serve as a resource.
