Notices of Violation
As articulated in the Student Handbook, students agree that they understand and will abide by the all housing rules and regulations by accepting a room assignment at Denison. Residential life staff (Resident Assistants and Head Residents) who observe a resident violating a housing rule or regulation may issue a Notice of Violation (NOV) to the student violator.
A student's receipt of an NOV is independent of the Student Code of Conduct and may require that he or she speak with the Head Resident or area Assistant Director about their conduct and the violation. Students are advised that engagement in repeated violation of housing
rules and regulations or receipt of multiple NOVs can result in the
student being charged formally under the Student Code of Conduct. Such action may subject the charged student to additional sanctioning and/or other restriction.
While receipt of an NOV does not generally impact a student in any significant ways, students are still expected to familiarize themselves with all housing rules and regulations and to ask questions about appropriate community living, as those questions may arise.
Students should speak with their RA, HR or area director if they have additional questions about NOVs.
