About the Dean of Students
The Dean of Students works closely with the Vice President for Student Development and the staff of the division in supporting student success.
The Dean is responsible for general oversight of the residential experience through supervision of the Assistant Dean of Students/Director of Residential Education and Housing.
Students often visit with Dean Fox to discuss:
- personal concerns
- questions or concerns about issues on campus
- suggestions for improving the student experience
- navigating some university policies and processes
- withdraw from DU or Reinstatement
- personal goals
The Dean of Students serves on various university committees and working groups. Dean advises DCGA, is a member of C-SMART, advises the Appeals Board, manages the CARE network that seeks to support students experiencing difficulty at college, and serves in an on-call capacity for after hours emergencies.
Dean Fox is a graduate of James Madison University (BA-Political Science and Speech Communication) and of The Ohio State University (MA- Educational Policy & Leadership-Higher Education & Student Affairs). He is a parent of two young children and loves to cheer on Big Red athletics.

Seeking to return to Denison from a withdraw? The Dean of Students is typically the administrator responsible for working with you. Email foxw@denison.edu and ask for an intent to return form. The deadline to seek enrollment in the fall is July 15 and the deadline to seek enrollment for the spring is December 1.
