DU Welcomes New Pledges

GRANVILLE, OH- The Brothers of the Denison University Chapter of Delta Upsilon Fraternity is proud to introduce its newest associate members: Noah Cassis ('04), Jacob Franklin ('05), Andrew McClelland ('06), and Vasilios Koumandarackis ('06). These fine young men were officialy inducted into the fraternity during a ceremony on the evening of September 28, 2003. Recruitment Chairman Aaron Rosenthal commented, "This is a strong group that will help the fraternity grow in many ways."

Brothers Help with Greek Move-In

GRANVILLE, OH- Several members of Delta Upsilon Fraternity, in association with other leaders in Denison's Greek Community, assisted students from the class of 2007 move into their dormatories during the morning of August 28, 2003. Those participating in the Greek Move-In sacrificed part of their summer vacation to arrive on campus early to help the over 600 first-year students and their families get acquainted to college life. "It was so nice to offer our assitance because service is really what Greek Life is all about," said Vice President for Public Relations, Alex Green.

DU Helps Fight Cancer

GRANVILLE, OH- For 24 straight hours on April 11 & 12, the men of Delta Upsilon participated in Denison University's "Relay for Life," an event to raise money for cancer research. During this time, members from various campus groups continuously walked around the track of Denison's Mitchell Athletic Center. The Fraternity surpassed their goal, raising over $800 for the event! Philanthropy Chairman Baars Bultman said that the event was "a great opportunity for the Fraternity to help out those in need" and that "we are honored to be involved in this fundraiser."

InitiationPledge Class of 2006 Initiated

GRANVILLE, OH- On Sunday, April 6, seven men were initiated into the Denison Chapter of Delta Upsilon. They are: Baars Bultman, Alex Green, Chris Hersberger, Brien Master, Chris Penny, Ben Rorrer, and Aaron Rosenthal, all members of the class of 2006. During a ceremony at Burke Recital Hall, President Kurt Wicklund and Brother Jack Stopa lead those present through the initiation procedures. Commenting on the ceremony, new member Alex Green said "Kurt did such a great job. The entire ceremony went so smoothly, and our guest speaker was very intriguing."

DU Sponsors Tab Drive for Ronald McDonald House

GRANVILLE, OH- From March 31 to April 4, the Brothers of Delta Upsilon sponsored their second tab drive of the year. During the week, thousands of soda tabs were collected from generous members of the Denison campus community. All proceeds from the Tab Drive will go to the Ronald McDonald House. Speaking on behalf of all the members, Treasurer Tim Durbin noted that "We had such a great turnout. It's great to see so many people looking out for others." Earlier in the year, the Fraternity was recognized with a service award for their contributions to the Ronald McDonald house.

Delta Upsilon Cleans Up HighwayHighway Cleanup

GRANVILLE, OH- The Denison Chapter of Delta Upsilon once again pledged its support for the environment this weekend as it cleaned up a section of Highway 661. Thirteen members of the fraternity spent a portion of their Sunday afternoon removing toxic and potentionally dangerous materials from both sides of the roadway. Not only was the waste harmful to our environment, but it was "an eyesore to all who drove this beautiful route," said President Kurt Wicklund. The fraternity is responsible for a two-mile stretch of the highway and is involved in its clean up several times a year. The next highway clean up will take place in the fall of 2003.

Comedian at PartyMarch Madness

GRANVILLE, OH- The members of Delta Upsilon hosted a private social gathering this past weekend at Rose House in honor or March Madness. The attire was "Mascots and Cheerleaders" and many men and women alike wore appropriate attire. Click on the picture at left to see more pictures from the evening.

 

 

Delta Upsilon to Host Alumni

GRANVILLE, OH- The Denison Chapter of Delta Upsilon will be hosting its alumni for a special gathering April 19 & 20. This event will provide an opportunity for the alumni to meet the members of the fraternity, share stories and traditions, see the improvements and changes to Denison's campus, and share each other's company through a variety of events. New Member Initiation Set for Fathers' Weekend

GRANVILLE, OH- On April 5 & 6, the members of Delta Upsilon will be hosting their fathers for a special Fathers' Weekend. Here, fathers and sons will share quality time through a variety of events and activities sponsored by the fraternity. They will also get a chance to meet the other members of the fraternity and their fathers. Also, the new members of the fraternity will be initiated on the morning of April 3. Pledge Class of 2006 Inducted

GRANVILLE, OH- The brothers of Delta Upsilon fraternity are proud to announce the induction of nine men into the fraternity's 2003 pledge class. During a ceremony on the morning of January 19, brother Chris Wilcox took the position of Pledge Educator, responsible for teaching the pledges the traditions, history, and obligations of the fraternity. The pledge class includes Baars Bultman, Alex Green, Chris Hersberger, Brien Master, Andy McClelland, Chris Penny, Mark Privette, Ben Rorrer, and Aaron Rosenthal, all members of the class of 2006. The entire Delta Upsilon fraternity congratulates these men on this achievement.

Denison Chapter Attends RLS

Early MorningKENT, OH- Five brothers of the Denison chapter of the Fraternity attended the annual Delta Upsilon Regional Leadership Seminar on Saturday, February 8. Beginning at 5:30am, Brandon Fumanti, Chris Wilcox, Alex Green, Brian Master, and Andy McClelland began their trip to Kent State University, this year's site of the conference. There, members of the Ohio chapters converged to discuss current issues of the Fraternity, and helped decide its future direction. Such issues discussed involved recruitment, finances, crisis management, and fraternity values. After attending the conference, McClelland believes that "It was a learning experience for all of us...one that will enable us to bring new ideas into the Fraternity." Next year's RLS will be held at Miami University.

Denison Recognized with Service Award

GRANVILLE, OH – Members of the Denison Chapter of Delta Upsilon International Fraternity were recognized on Sunday, January 12, 2003 for their efforts during the second annual Delta Upsilon Community Service Week. The chapter received the Outstanding Community Service Week Chapter Award for their “pop-tab” collection drive for the Ronald McDonald House of Columbus during the Fraternity’s international service week – November 3-10, 2002.
The Denison chapter received recognition during a ceremony at the 2003 Winter Educational Conference, held in Indianapolis this past weekend. The chapter had 100 percent member participation in their tab drive, which encouraged Denison students to donate more than 5,000 tabs towards the cause. The chapter will receive a plaque, a scholarship for the Fraternity’s summer conference, recognition in The Quarterly – Delta Upsilon’s magazine, and notice on the Fraternity’s website – www.DeltaU.org. “This chapter has done some truly outstanding work to reach out into the community and make an impact,” said Greg Mathews, member of the International Fraternity Board of Directors, at the Sunday ceremony. “We encourage all of our chapters to support their community through meaningful service and action.”Delta Upsilon International Fraternity was founded in 1834 and is the oldest non-secret Fraternity in North America. The organization is headquartered in Indianapolis and boasts Four Founding Principles: the Promotion of Friendship; the Development of Character; the Diffusion of Liberal Culture; and the Advancement of Justice.
