Employee Commute Survey
As part of Denison's on-going commitment to sustainability, the Office of Sustainability conducted a survey to assess how Denison employees get to work. Nearly half (326) of DU employees took the survey and the results were encouraging. Over 13% report that they walk or bike to work on a regular basis and another 4.5% carpool. Perhaps most encouraging was the indication in the comments section that many were interested in exploring carpooling and alternative transportation in the future. To that end, the Office of Sustainability will focus its efforts over the coming months toward developing a way for commuters to get coordinate so that carpooling becomes a viable option.

- "I ride my bike to work during the summer and drive during the rest of the year."
- "I would love to find someone to share my commute, but have so far been unsuccessful. I'm not sure how to remedy that :( "
- "I drive to school once a week and/or when necessary to transport my computer, files and books. I walk the rest of the time as I live in downtown Granville."
- "Although my primary method of commute (defined as more than 75% of time) is driving alone, I do carpool about 25% of the time and would be eager to carpool even more."
- "There are not sidewalks or safe walking areas between 1/2 of the distance between my home and Denison."
- "I do carpool during the summer months with another colleague in my division since it's the only time we work the same hours."
- "I live in Columbus and would be interested in a van commute."
