What’s cooking at Ebaugh?

Brick by brick, the exterior walls of the Ebaugh Laboratories’ renovation, including an expansion of 19,000 square feet, are going up—right on schedule.

Art Chonko, director of facilities, says progress on the chemistry and biochemistry building’s interior is happening fast, too. “The walls are being framed, the duct work and piping are going in, and even some of the drywall is going up.”

In keeping with Denison’s sustainability practices, the project is being constructed in accordance with Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) specifications. Developed by the United States Green Building Council, LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system. (All new construction projects at Denison are built according to these specifications.)

To make great news even better, the Ebaugh project just received a $200,000 grant from the Booth Ferris Foundation, which significantly helps to support the building’s state-of-the-art facilities.

So come fall, students, professors and staff will be moving into a much roomier Ebaugh, where the new chemistry compound will mean bigger labs, more classrooms, lots of flexible space and top-flight instrumentation.

That’s what’s cooking for chemistry.
