Mostly Cloudy, 70 °F Celebrating African cultures
African Awareness Week is off and running. Last evening, students of the African Student Association held a Fun and Games night in Slayter.
Events during the rest of the week include a panel on breaking African stereotypes, mystery movie night, and a lecture—co-sponsored by DCGA and the Laura C. Harris Symposium—by Paul Rusesabagina, whose story of bravery in the face of genocide was told in the movie Hotel Rwanda.
The African Student Association, one of Denison’s 150+ student organizations, is a social group that seeks to create awareness on issues affecting Africa. Its mission is to bring the culture to campus and also to celebrate diversity while educating.
