Did the groundhog actually get it right? (UPDATED)

Yes, the snow and ice are still melting, and the grass on the academic quad isn’t exactly green yet, but there are signs of spring on Denison’s campus.

We spotted what we believe to be the first outdoor class today, and coupled with afternoon temperatures north of 50 degrees, we’re encouraged that winter here in Ohio may not last forever.

This class was held on the Burton D. Morgan Center’s west plaza, adjacent to the Reese~Shackelford Common. It ‘s the first of many to come as the trees and flowers begin to bloom next month.

UPDATE: (February 18, 2011) Seriously, folks, the weather is outstanding. On Thursday it caused these students to burst into song.
