‘They have never experienced this kind of quake before’

Yu Itaka, a senior from Japan, told The Newark Advocate what a relief it is to know that his family members are safe and what he’s heard from them in the aftermath of that country’s earthquakes and tsunami.

“My family in Tokyo explained that it was like riding a roller coaster,” Itaka said. “It was not just shaking but more like the whole house was swinging side to side. They have never experienced this kind of quake before.”
