Return of the redheads

Print

When the Denison football team kicks off this fall, they’ll be kickin’ it “old school.”

After donning white helmets and navy-trimmed uniforms for the last several years, the Big Red will return to traditional red helmets and more basic red-and-white attire in 2011.

The former uniform’s flourishes and ornaments are gone, having been replaced with bold solid backgrounds, full-block numerals on the jerseys, and double red stripes on the pants.

Second-year head coach Jack Hatem is behind the program’s intentional return to a more traditional game-day garb. You can read more about Coach Hatem’s take on Denison’s grid gear and get a preview his team’s new (old) look at DenisonBigRed.com.
