Oceanographer and underwater archaeologist Robert Ballard took a tour around campus today, spending time with students over lunch in the Welsh Hills Room and taking part in two classes: Associate Professor Laura Romano’s Introduction to the Science of Biology and Associate Professor Tom Bressoud’s first-year seminar on Robotics, Computing & Society, which also was attended by students in Professor Michael Westmoreland’s Applied Statistics course.

Ballard’s conversations with students during the day touched on all sorts of topics, from science, technology and learning to discovery, society and pop culture.

Ballard, who is best known for discovering the Titanic and other famous shipwrecks, will speak at 7:30 tonight (Nov. 9) in Swasey Chapel.
