Marvelous night for a moondance

News, weather, and social media sites have been bombarded with photos of the first “supermoon” of 2014, which popped up last weekend. It’s kind of a big deal to sky-watchers and photographers alike, as there are only three nights this year when the supermoon will appear, based on to its proximity to the Earth. As it snuggles up to us, it appears larger than usual in the night sky. (If you missed it, you can catch it again on Aug. 10 and Sept. 9.)

Even though we took this video the evening before the official supermoon, which showed up on July 12, we’re pretty sure it rivals any image out there — but maybe that has something to do with the scenery. For those unfamiliar with campus, that’s Swasey Chapel, a Denison landmark since 1924.
