Educational studies and Spanish double major Lindsay Lewis-Persue ’25 spent the past summer in New York interning at Curious Jane. Curious Jane is an all-girls day camp that specializes in project-based initiatives in the hopes to cultivate innovation, experimentation, and problem-solving in young girls. Going into her internship, Lewis-Persue, who also minors in psychology, wanted to learn different pedagogies and how to help students with their individual needs. She was able to achieve both goals at Curious Jane.

Throughout her time there, Lewis-Persue worked with campers ranging from kindergarten to sixth grade. The diversity of campers she worked with allowed her to assess several distinct needs and create quick, applicable solutions to such needs. From this, she was able to hone her problem-solving skills, skills that are ultimately transferable to other facets of her life.

For undergraduates entering any internship related to education, Lewis-Persue believes “patience and open mindedness are key especially when working with children; the day-to-day schedule can be unpredictable so be prepared for anything!”
