Denison’s 2024 student commencement speaker is Priyanshi Kanoria, a communication and politics and public affairs (PPA) double major from Kolkata, India.

A department fellow for both her majors, Kanoria is president of both the Denison International Student Association and the communication honor society, and is a member of the University Honor Committee. She was awarded a President’s Medal, Denison’s highest student honor.

In addition to her academic work and co-curricular activities, Kanoria has gained a number of career and life skills through her student employment positions as a marketing assistant for University Communications, consultant at the Writing Center, student assistant at the Academic Resource Center, and research assistant in the PPA department. A highlight of her Denison career was traveling to Athens, Greece, to attend the Athens Democracy Forum.

Kanoria says she has become part of meaningful communities at Denison through her academics, extracurricular activities, student jobs, and the “international student community that is made up of some of the most brilliant, warm, and helpful individuals.”

After graduation, Kanoria will relocate to New York City, where she plans to become an active member of the college’s close-knit alumni network.

“The true beauty of a liberal arts education is that it is not just a phase of your life but rather, is a way of life,” she says. “I am grateful for all the skills that Denison has given me to help navigate this new phase of my life.”
