Fall 2019 – The Hill – Denison Proud

All for Science, Science for All
Denison was recently awarded a $275,000 grant to ensure that every single student on campus has the right resources when it comes to science education. The funding will support a new model that specifically helps students who have been underserved in their high school education, and educates faculty on how to
create more inclusive classrooms.

Putting the Bright in Fulbright
Twenty-four Denisonians were awarded international scholarships and fellowships, including nine Fulbright recipients within the Class of 2019. This group will be teaching, working, and investing in communities across the world, including Mexico, Ukraine, Turkey, and the Canary Islands. We are #DenisonProud in every language.

Top in the Nation
A recent poll by Times Higher Ed/Wall Street Journal places Denison at No. 6 in the nation when it comes to faculty mentorship of students. This type of interaction is proven to increase professional and personal success. Just ask the 92 percent of our recent graduates who are employed, in graduate school, or completing service within six months of graduation.

The Bee’s Knees
Denison’s solar array
has something new to boast about beyond providing roughly 15 percent of the College’s energy. One million flowering and pollinator-friendly plants now surround the panels making this solar habitat the first of its kind in a five-state area. These plants attract bees, butterflies, birds, and all the good things that come with a healthy ecosystem.
