Awards Offered By Denison Computer Science

Forbes B. Wiley Award

This award is given in memory of Forbes B. Wiley, who taught Mathematics at Denison University from 1910 to 1956. It is given for Excellence in Mathematics to one or more sophomores for work completed in their freshman year and to one or more juniors for work completed in their first two years.

John L. Gilpatrick Mathematics Award

This award was established in 1914 in memory of John Lord Gilpatrick who taught Mathematics at Denison University from 1874 to 1912. The first award was presented in 1915. It is awarded to the most outstanding senior major in the department as determined by the Mathematics and Computer Science faculty.

Alice Hutchinson Lytle Award

The Alice Hutchinson Lytle Award, established in 1970, is awarded to the senior female who has earned the highest cumulative GPA in mathematics and computer science courses during her first three years. This individual must have taken at least two semesters of mathematics and computer science at Denison. In any given year that no female shall qualify, the department can substitute a male 2012 - 2011 Beidi Qiang

Chosaburo Kato Memorial Award

The Chosaburo Kato Memorial Award, established in 1965, is awarded to the most promising junior major in the department who has both good character and the recommendation of the Mathematics and Computer Science faculty.

Ethan D. and Hallie Roberts Memorial Award

The Ethan D. and Hallie Roberts Memorial Award is given to a senior in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science who has completed an outstanding research project.

Daniel Donald Bonar Mathematics and Computer Science Award

This award is to go to a junior major in Mathematics or Computer Science.  The recipient chosen should be one who is engaged in department initiatives (i.e. attending lectures, etc.).
