DU Votes, a student-run organization that encourages students, faculty, and staff to register and exercise their right to vote, has been named a Standout Nonpartisan Campus Student Voting Group by the 2023 national ALL IN Awards.
ALL IN’s Campus Democracy Challenge recognizes college students across the United States who are advancing nonpartisan student voter registration, education, and turnout efforts as well as ensuring equitable access to the polls. In 2023, ALL IN also recognized Denison as a Most Engaged Campus.
The Standout Nonpartisan Campus Student Voting Group Award is presented in recognition of exemplary leadership in helping advance undergraduate student democratic engagement, including nonpartisan civic learning, political engagement, and voter participation, while advancing the work of ALL IN on campus.
Award winners have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to fostering nonpartisan democratic engagement and increasing college student voter rates; contributed to making democratic engagement a core institutional value; provided leadership and worked collaboratively across campus and with the community beyond one’s program or department on campus; and worked to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts.
Denison student representatives Jakob Lucas ’24 and AJ Hartwick ’25 accepted the award on behalf of DU Votes.
