Denison University announces that Drew Riley, currently associate dean of admission at Colgate University in New York, has been appointed director of admission at Denison effective June 10.

In addition to his work at Colgate, Riley has held leadership positions in admission and residential life at Saint Mary’s College in California and at Carroll College in Montana. He holds a B.A. in English and Creative Writing from Carroll College and an M.F.A. in Poetry from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Riley brings extensive experience in student recruitment, communications, marketing, data analysis, and database systems management. He has demonstrated success in recruiting and retaining diverse student populations from across the country and around the world.

“Drew’s comprehensive background in student recruitment, as a writer, and as a data analyst make him the ideal choice to be our next director of admission,” said Gregory Sneed, Denison’s vice president for enrollment management. Sneed continued, “Drew is the epitome of a liberal arts graduate and he brings that passion with him to Granville. I could not be more pleased to welcome Drew to Denison.”

Regarding the search committee, Sneed commented, “I am enormously thankful for the work of everyone involved in the search for our next director of admission, but particularly for the dedicated efforts of the search committee: Fareeda Griffith, Raj Bellani, Laura Meek, and Tim Butterfield.”

At Denison, Riley succeeds Mike Hills, who joined the Athletics Department last summer as director of the Varsity D Association.

Built on a foundation of academic breadth, depth, and rigor, and lasting relationships, Denison unlocks the potential of students to be architects of their own lives. Students have opportunities from their first day to learn in small classes, work directly with faculty, conduct hands-on research, perform on stages and create in studios. Denison’s award-winning career exploration program redefines how liberal arts colleges prepare students for the professions. Core programs get students involved early and often, close skills gaps, connect students to alumni coaches, provide opportunities for internships, and support them as they launch post-Denison.
