Flavors of the Globe is your chance to meet students, staff and faculty who have studied or spent time abroad, while also enjoying international food and learning about current opportunities. Door prizes will be won and all are encouraged to bring their own utensil and plate to this zero waste meal.

When: Thursday Sept 26 from 11:30am- 1pm
Where: Reese Shackelford Common, behind Slayter, under a big tent

Why: Connect, learn, and be active global citizens

Regional tables will feature a unique menu item and specific major, study abroad, fellowship and internship opportunities. Ten minute sessions will allow guests to try food and hear from faculty and returnees at three different regional tables between 11:30 - noon. You can spend the whole time at one regional table, or connect at different regional tables before mingling and trying all of the dishes at the event.

  • Central Asia (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan)

  • East and South Africa
  • East Asia (Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal)
  • French speaking areas
  • German speaking areas
  • Japan
  • Middle East North Africa
  • Nordic (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland)
  • Oceania (Australia, New Zealand)
  • South America
  • South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh)
  • South East Asia Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia
  • Southern Europe/ Mediterranean
  • Sri Lanka
  • West Africa

This meal is a part of Global Denison Days, a series of events to celebrate international connections and global citizenship opportunities at Denison. This series is being organized by Modern Languages, Intl Studies, Global Commerce, Intl Student Services, Off Campus Study, the Knowlton Center and Office of Gender & Sexuality and is supported by many departments.
